Set your oven to 350°F and cover a baking tray with parchment paper.

In a bowl, stir together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Put this aside for later.

Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with a mixer for 1-2 minutes, until it’s fluffy and light.

Blend in the eggs and vanilla, being careful not to overmix.

Slowly add the dry mix and stir until all the flour disappears. Gently mix in the chocolate chips.

Scoop dough, about 2 tablespoons each, onto the tray with a 2-3 inch gap between them. Bake for 9-11 minutes until golden on the edges.

While they’re still warm, cut each cookie into heart shapes using a cutter. Let them rest on the tray for 5-7 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.
